Doom Is Playable On a Tractor
Doom is eternal.
It's become somewhat of a gaming insider joke that people can play Doom on anything. People have jailbroken all kinds of items, including a LEGO brick, to play the iconic game. Now, people have taken it to the next level by installing Doom on a John Deere tractor, as reported by Wired.
Just Don't Get Distracted While Riding
Of course, there's a lot more to this story than just another Doom console. You see, John Deere & Co., as well as other manufacturers, install digital locks on their equipment so that farmers can't modify or repair their own equipment. This is an important issue in the farming industry as farmers may naturally need to perform repairs in the middle of their busiest seasons without needing to wait around for someone to fix it for them.
A hacker known as Sick Codes presented a new jailbreak for these tractors at the DefCon security conference in Las Vegas. They found a workaround allowing them to bypass the digital locks, and naturally, the first thing you have to do upon discovering such information is install Doom.
The hack was accomplished via DeHacked Doom with the aid of Doom modder Skelegant. And naturally, it's an altered version of the '90s shooter where you ride a tractor around a demon-infested farm. The most important part of all this is keeping our farmers happy, so they can continue putting food on our tables while keeping demons at bay.
What do you want to see play Doom next?
