COD Modern Warfare 2 Release Date Announced!

Activision surprised fans today by announcing the release date of its next big Call of Duty title - Modern Warfare 2. And it's coming much sooner than anybody expected. The game is set to be released on October 28th of this year.
The Key Art Looks Great!
The news was announced on the official Call of Duty Twitter account along with an exciting teaser video that showed off a few of the characters in the game as well as the key art for the new title. Over the years, COD has become known by gamers as one of the OG franchises in the "brown" period of the 2000s - when a wave of games with dark, brown-tinted graphics and gritty tones became popular. They seem to be shedding that reputation with this colorful, neon green image.

This is the next in Activision Blizzard's annual Call of Duty franchise, but it might also be the last - at least annually. The Call of Duty game that was supposed to be released in 2023 has already been pushed back to 2024, and there are rumors floating around that the game series may stop being annual post-the Microsoft acquisition.

At any rate, it's a direct sequel to the Modern Warfare reboot from 2019 and is believed to be about U.S. special forces fighting the Colombian drug cartel.
