People Hate the New Resident Evil Netflix Show
On July 14, Netflix came out with the latest adaptation of the Resident Evil franchise. This itself was only a few months after a movie (completely unrelated) called Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City came out. While live-action adaptations of the franchise have been pretty hit and miss over the years, it seems as though Netflix has scraped the bottom of the barrel with this one. The reaction on social media hasn't been pretty, with many pointing out how mind-numbingly bad Resident Evil is.

All you have to do is look through some of the reactions on Twitter to get the idea that Resident Evil is worse than a root canal. Twitter user @TheCriticalDri2 wrote, "Resident Evil on Netflix may be the most boring, pointless garbage I've seen all year, with absolutely nothing in common with its source material. Its so bad, it makes the Milla Jovovich movies look like absolute works of art in comparison."

However, the biggest point of contention with the new series appears to be some of the dialogue choices. In case you don't know what we're talking about, there's one point in the show where a young Jade Wesker says, "I mostly just read Zootopia porn." That's not even getting into the cringe of watching Evelyn do an impromptu dance to "Don't Stop Now" by Dua Lipa.

Still, there are always fun shiny nuggets even in the dingiest of caverns. While it's hard to find praise for Resident Evil, many people agree that Lance Reddick as Albert Wesker is a highlight. He always brings his A-game to whatever role he's in, whether it's in John Wick or Corporate, and it would appear the Netflix series is no exception.

All in all, Netflix's Resident Evil doesn't bare much resemblance at all to the game it's based on. If anything, it feels like they slapped the Resident Evil logo over a generic zombie show and called it a day. Feel free to watch it for yourself to make up your own mind, but it's clear the masses have spoken.
