Amid WB Shakeup, MultiVersus Season 1 Delayed Indefinitely
What the heck's going on at Warner Bros?
Warner Bros. Discovery hasn't been afraid of shaking things up as of late. The studio recently announced it was scrapping it's nearly completed Batgirl movie as well as a sequel to Scoob! It's the first of many changes since the Warner Bros./Discovery merger earlier this year, and now, shakeups have entered the world of video games.
You'll Have to Wait a Little Longer for Morty
The MultiVersus Twitter account posted a thread on August 4 detailing how Season 1 and the release of Morty from Rick and Morty as a playable character have been set back. They will now come out at an unconfirmed date.
The statement reads, "A big thank you to everyone playing MultiVersus. It’s exciting to see so many players enjoying the game and the launch of the Open Beta is just the beginning. We want to let everyone know that we are delaying the start of Season 1 & the release of Morty to a later date. We know this might be disappointing for some and want to assure our Community that we are dedicated to delivering new and exciting content that delights players."
Previously, Warner Bros. had announced that Season 1 would begin on August 9. This would be marked with the release of Morty as the game's 18th playable character.
Seemingly, the delay won't change the order in which certain characters come out. Rick Sanchez should still release after Morty.
And earlier this week, MultiVersus game director Tony Huynh confirmed the Season 1 Battle Pass would cost roughly $10. For now, gamers can enjoy the Preseason Battle Pass, which comes with 15 tiers of character skins, XP, coins, and other cosmetics.
It was originally only supposed to run for two weeks, but that's obviously changing now with this announcement.
