YouTube "Leaker" TheRealInsider Admitted They Lied About Everything
Sour news for followers of TheRealInsider.
YouTuber John Allen accidentally outed himself as "TheRealInsider" over the weekend when he replied to a tweet from his main account. He may have swiftly deleted the tweet, but the damage was done. Allen gained internet fame by leaking details of various Ubisoft properties, including Assassin's Creed, but he's since admitted that much of what he gave up was "bulls***."
John Allen Posted a Longer Video to YouTube
"TheRealInsider" had long posted leaks of upcoming releases, including those related to Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid. While some of those leaks were confirmed, they were given to John Allen under an NDA, meaning he shouldn't have leaked them when he did. As for other leaks, he admitted he made up a lot of them.
In the video, he stated, "I mentioned Silent Hill and [a] Metal Gear Solid remake, and I can say that there was no NDAs [Non-Disclosure Agreements] involved there because it's all bulls***."
As for why he made up details related to these games, Allen admitted that he was chasing clout. He apparently became addicted to people hanging on his every word, so he continued leaking details or making up news announcements.
The YouTuber concluded his video by saying he would step away from the limelight for the time being before coming back to be a positive force for good. As he put it, "All I can do from here is try to be a better human try to learn from this catastrophic mistake, this incomprehensible stupidity ... I'll take some time off now, I'm going to just go to get away from it and just try and learn from his mistake and come back hopefully, as a positive force and not a negative one."
