In a world full of darkness, video games are often blamed for creating an atmosphere of de-sensitivity to violence. Moreover, gamers also get a bad reputation for being lazy and hateful. We all know that movies and television have predicted major events (we're sure you've seen a million Simpsons prediction lists). Video games have done the same though, in ways that are sometimes incredibly spine-tingling. Get ready for some goosebumps with these eerie video game predictions.
Shooter games were officially "born" when id software released Wolfenstein 3D in 1992. The thrill of being "the hero" was intoxicating and shooter games quickly became an explosive genre (no pun intended). Since then, we've seen first-person shooters implement other genres such as RPG upgrades and/or horror elements that keep the games riveting. However, sometimes developers really miss the mark and screw up what is a pretty straight-forward concept. Here's a few of the shooter games that were overhyped, underdeveloped, or just plain sucked.
Recently, eSports commentator Jake Lucky resurfaced a clip of popular game streamer IShowSpeed going on an expletive-laced rant while playing popular Riot Games FPS Valorant that many are deeming sexist. As a result, he's been permanently banned from playing any Riot game online, and YouTube is currently assessing whether or not to ban him from their streaming platform.
In the clip, which you can see here, IShowSpeed - real name Darren Watkins Jr. - gets flustered during a tense game and starts yelling at his teammates. This isn't anything out of the ordinary. Due to its nature, Kojima Productions will pursue legal action against all those who have defamed Hideo Kojima.
The gaming industry has been absolutely booming since early 2020. Which makes sense. Everyone was stuck in their houses for months, nothing was open, some people were unemployed with nothing to do while others still had to work and needed something to balance out the workload with some COVID-safe leisure. We all turned to our trusty consoles, handhelds, and PCs, and studios, publishers, and console-makers reaped the rewards. However, it looks like the coming months will see the end of the industry's recent growth.
The lack of PS5's available has left gamers descending into madness. This is particularity true if fans think the console is on its way but they receive something else in its place. Are some people faking receiving the wrong thing to be unfairly supplemented? No one is sure, but here are some of the top disappointments in gaming history.
GameStop holds fond memories for most of us. Who didn’t love going there more than almost anything else else? But is nostalgia hiding the truth in plain sight? Is GameStop an evil dictatorship that’s bought up all the competition and basically just steals money from children? Or does the 'Power Reward Card' redeem any of GameStop’s other sins?
